Wishing a happy start to the school year to all of our young residents of Powder Mill Apartments.
We are proud to be part of Dallastown Area School District, a national blue ribbon school. If you have any questions about the local school information, call the Rental Office and we can help.
There are still a few more weeks of our pool season so be sure to soak up those remaining summer rays!
December is that time of the year when Powder Mill Apartments’ neighbors gather together to celebrate the holidays. One of our favorite traditions is our annual Holiday Dinner.
Last week we hosted two seating for a delicious home cooked meal with live music in our beautifully decorated community room. It was a wonderful chance for everyone to come together as friends and neighbors to celebrate the season. We loved watching residents and staff sit together and enjoy good food and great company. It makes our entire community feel like a family. Our Holiday Dinner is always one of our most popular events and has become an anticipated tradition.
At Powder Mill Apartments, we consistently strive to explore new ways of giving back to those in need. This Fall we hosted our “Thanks and Giving Dinner” with a homemade pasta dinner, side salad, breadsticks and dessert for delivery or pick-up.
We cooked all day and are thrilled to have raised $1500.00 for P.I.N.K Partners, a local York based organization that helps women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer face challenges before and after treatment. We give thanks to our sister communities for the inspiration.
We are genuinely proud of our residents and what they continually accomplish for society!
If you ask our residents what they love most about living at Powder Mill Apartments many will tell you it’s our wonderful maintenance team! Here at Powder Mill Apartments our main focus is customer service and making sure our residents are taken care of, which includes apartment maintenance. Our maintenance team’s main priority is to solve any obstacle in a thorough and speedy manner.
Whether it is a clogged drain, burned out lightbulb or a jammed patio door, our team members are on the job within the day. Unlike regular maintenance technicians that require you to take off work and let them in your house, with your permission, our team can make a service call while you carry on with your day. Our technicians bring card to leave at your door after each call. This allows our residents to know when a member has stopped in and explains how they have resolved the concern.
There is also no need to worry about after hours calls. With our 24-hour emergency maintenance we always have a team member on call to help with lock-outs and other urgent service requests.
“City Alive” by Brenda Wintermyer, 2016 Yorkfest featured artist
Celebrate the last days of summer at York’s annual summer arts festival weekend: Yorkfest. Saturday, August 27th (10am-5pm) and Sunday, August 28th (10am-4pm) offers free family entertainment, art activities and food. Attend a community jazz concert in the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center, featuring music by Jeff Stabley and Friends and Extremity.
This year there will be several new additions to Yorkfest. Prime Art Supply Co. is hosting a ChalkWalk along Market Street. Watch talented artists create their murals in person. Creative York is a non-profit learning center that provides opportunities for students to explore their creativity through art. They will host a variety of activities at the Creative York Family Pavilion. Enjoy interactive community art projects as well as a petting zoo. The Parliament Arts Organization will host a unique display in which ten talented artists will each transform a junk car into a work of art.
Powder Mill’s beautiful garden apartments may be located in a quiet country setting, but we are near downtown York, a city with rich history interwoven with vibrant arts and culture, creative dining and unique shopping.
Did you know that York is the birthplace of our nation’s Articles of Confederation and the place where the phrase “The United States of America” was first coined? Three centuries of American history have shaped our county into an incredible preservation of revolutionary times. York’s many museums offer an opportunity learn about a time in which America was new, inhabited by immigrant pioneers and Revolutionary War soldiers. The Agricultural and Industrial Museum highlights York’s industrial contribution to World War II, while the Bonham House allows visitors to experience what life was like for an upper middle class family during the 19th and 20th century.
For a peek at York’s future, spend a day in downtown York. A full calendar of events highlights three separate unique districts. The Market District centers on Central Market, with over 125 years of history and 50+ vendors showcasing farm fresh, local offerings. Interested in the arts? The Royal Square is an emerging art district, home to local artists and galleries, cafes and special events. Completing the trifecta is the WeCo business district, home to a variety of restaurants, shops and even an independent film house/art gallery.
Come experience the past and future in this diverse and ever changing city we call home.
The community building at Powder Mill Apartments is a popular place for residents to entertain friends and family at no cost. Our team loves hosting monthly parties and special events for everyone but we decided it was time for a change.
Over the next few weeks, we will be updating and redecorating for 2016. We are all so excited to see the new look and will keep you posted on our progress. If you have a special event planned for this year, check with the office to see it can be celebrated here!
The holidays are approaching and it’s a great time to share some of our family traditions.
Tina, our super creative manager at Powder Mill, creates a “Thankful Turkey” with her young son. At Thanksgiving dinner, each family member writes what they are grateful for and then shares their blessings before dessert.
Powder Mill Apartments has done it for the 3rd straight year and we couldn’t be more proud.
Tina and her team recently attended the Best of Living Gala and brought home awards for Maintenance Excellence, Curb Appeal & BEST OVERALL PROPERTY in Central PA. Congratulations to the team for their hard work and thank you to the residents for making the community shine.
Stop by the Rental Office to check out the awards!
Our technology class is off to a great start! Thanks to Jennifer with the Red Lion Senior Center for putting together a great program offered right here in our community room.
